Improving an orphanage for 100 children
Ten volunteers from Aspen Russia’s North West and Central Region chose to support Baby House No 3 on Zagrebskoy Boulevard for Mandela Day.
This healthcare facility was established in 1943 to care for some 100 orphaned children who suffer from neuropsychiatric diseases. The facility has since expanded to include three paediatric units for the treatment, rehabilitation, education and upbringing of orphans and children left without parental care.
Aspen’s team repaired and repainted the playground, benches, the birdhouse and bird feeders and covered the playground’s roof with tiles. They also enhanced the garden by planting new flowerbeds and whitewashed the trees.
