Brazil

Although every day is Mandela Day for us, in 2024, our action took on an urgent nature after the heavy rains that hit several cities in Rio Grande do Sul between April and May. The impact of the torrential rain left an indelible mark, affecting around 600,000 people.

We consequently chose to donate more than 10 tons of supplies including 800 food baskets, 400 hygiene and cleaning kits, and 900 kg of pet food for 4 800 people affected by the extreme weather.

Additionally, Rio Grande do Sul, located in the coldest region of Brazil, has been experiencing a harsh winter since June. Considering this seasonal impact, our employees donated more than 85 blankets for the affected population of all ages and handed these over at the end of that month.

Our uniting activities were embraced by all employees, including the sales team operating in Rio Grande do Sul. In addition to the blanket drop, on 11 July donations were collected from the manufacturing site in Serra and transferred by truck to the office in Rio de Janeiro, where the remaining donations were collected on 12  July.

On 18 July – Nelson Mandela International Day, the supplies were delivered by Aspen employees to families served by Lions Club – District LD3 (“Lions Club”). The Lions Club is an international association that serves the neediest, provides humanitarian care and secures resources and donations to improve lives for the better at São Mateus School in Canoas, RS.

We extend appreciation to our 2024 Mandela Day partners that include Inovart for video editing; Nimbus Cargas which handled all the transport requirements; Seropec, pet food supplier; and Target, responsible for Aspen Pharma Brazil’s social media.
