Using horses to develop team building skills
Equestrian riding is the only sport where different genders train and compete together. Contact between the horses and the riders creates a social environment that enhances possibilities of communication, developing relationships and taking responsibility for action irrespective of the rider’s gender, ethnicity or religious preferences.
Our team in Bulgaria provided a group of children and young riders with the opportunity to participate in an equestrian training camp in Sofia, to experience a sense of team building and take responsibility for their actions through engaging with horses.
The camp included basic and competition horse riding competencies. They worked as a team learning new techniques in caring for their equine partners, new feeding and training programs and improvised team competition.
The tutor of the camp was a well-known Bulgarian trainer responsible for the development of several children excelling in sport and through personal development.
