Making a small difference to a destroyed primary school

​This year Aspen Greece collaborated with the South African Embassy and South African friends, in commemoration of Mandela Day.

The Agia Marina Kindergarten and Primary School in New Makri was selected as the beneficiary by the combined teams. This primary school was deeply affected by the Marathon fires, the second most serious incident of its kind this century, which sadly claimed 102 lives.

In contrast to the surrounding destroyed area that is burnt and grey, we painted the playground of the school with bright, cheerful colors making it a warm and inviting space for the young learners. We hope that the time, energy and passion that was poured into this project will have a positive impact on the children when they return to school in September.
