Kenyan-based Beta Healthcare elected to support three beneficiaries for the 2012 Mandela Day programme. These included the Havilla Children's Home, the Aga Khan Hawkers Market programm and the Mother Teresa Children's Home.

Beta's employees  collected a range of items including clothing, food and toys and these much needed donations were taken through to the Havilla Children's Home on July 18.

Work is also being provided to the ladies of the Aga Khan Hawkers Market as a source of income for these hawkers.  In addition, a donation is also being made to their programme.

The Mother Teresa Children's Home is in need of personal care products and unscheduled medicines, which Beta Healthcare donated to them.

About the Havilla Children's Home

This Children's home is based in Mwiki near Kasarani in Kenya. It does not receive any support from the Government or have any primary sponsors. Havilla is home to some 60 orphans aged between 2 and 18 years - with some of these children being HIV positive.

About the Aga Khan Hawkers Market

The ladies who form part of this hawkers market hand make small promotional items such as handy crafts as well as baskets, which are sold to raise funds for, and to support needy children. Aspen embraces their entrepreneurial spirit which is closely aligned to the Group's values.

About Mother Teresa Children's Home

This Home was started by the Late Mother Teresa and it cares for approximately 100 orphaned and abandoned children, teenagers, disabled individuals as well as the elderly. Gratefully, adoptions are periodically arranged for some of the children. Located in Nairobi's Eastleigh Area, the Home is entirely dependent on the generosity of local businesses as well as the support of the local community.
