Feeding the needy through Foodshare
For Nelson Mandela Day 2019, the Aspen Pharma United Kingdom team decided to continue to support a local charity that they had worked with last year. Foodshare in Maidenhead is located close to our office. The goals of Foodshare are to help people in need, including the homeless, those on low incomes and the elderly, to access nutritional food.
In 2018 the Aspen team supported the Foodshare community kitchen by providing hot meals for up to 30 people. This year, the team wanted to help a wider number of people, so we decided to donate to Foodshare’s food bank, which provides essential items for more than 100 local people.
Project Manager Lester Tanner helped us put together a shopping list of the most needed items, which included food particularly suitable for children, as many families who reply on meals supplied by school struggle during holidays. The Aspen team collected the supplies and delivered these it to a very happy Lester.
Nick Scott, General Manager, Aspen United Kingdom said: “We were delighted to be able to make a practical contribution to helping the wider community where we work at a time of year when many local families are particularly in need”.
